davlor
I have installed the prepatched maxxuss 10.4.4/10.4.5 in VMware. The installation and first boot went perfectly. Unfortunately, I have been unable to boot a second time. When booting in verbose mode, quite a bit loads up properly, including mounting the file systems, starting virtual memory, and so forth. But upon reaching a certain point, the boot process stops moving, and never continues. I'll include the last 4 lines I see below. ..... Apple16X50UARTSync2: Detected 16550AF/C/CF FIFO=16 MaxBaud=115200 display: family specific matching fails Mar 18 17:31:25 kextd-parent[24]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out AppleIntelPIIXPATA: PIIX4 (CMD 0x170, CTR 0x374, IRQ 15, BM 0x1058) I've left it for half an hour or more with no movement beyond this point. CPU usage (by vmware-vmx.exe) goes to 100%, and there appears to be some sort of slow memory leak, as slowly but surely the memory rises and rises, to 100MB and beyond. I've tried disabling the cd-rom and networking, and played with everything I can think to play with, to no avail. Any idea why this is happening? Thank you for your help.
