SvenTheBear Posted August 22, 2008 Share Posted August 22, 2008 Hi there, when I try to install OS-X86 via Zephyroth's Leopard 10.5.2 Rev 2 I get some problems. First of all I have to point out, that Zephyroths's disk seems to be the right one, cause i found my motherboard in this list: HCL 10.5.2 But when I try to install Leopard the Darwin Bootloader starts and the grey apple screen is shown on my display. Under the logo there is those normal rotating symbol. But after 2-3 minutes there is another symbol shown, its the "forbidden" sign (like this Sign). After this nothing happens any more. I tried-v -x or those other options from FAQ but I don't get a real error message, the computer does not stop to show new text lines every few seconds, but after two hours I ended it manually. My System: Asus A8N-E AMD 64 4000+ 2GB Ram (Infineon) MSI Geforce 7800 GT 1 IDE 80 GB Drive (For mac Installation) with unpartitioned space 1 Sata 400 GB Drive (I tried it without that drive too) 1 IDE DVD-Rom Reader (Samsung) 1 IDE CD RW Drive 1 USB DVD RW Drive What can I do? I have a very similar spec to yours and have yet to attempt install. Have you tried to install direct to the SATA drive? Something I keep reading is about is HDs still with formatted/ remaining data not working. I would use a completely blank, 'from-factory', drive. Also, try removing USB DVD till you're up and running & check remaining drives have correct jumper placements. Finally, absolutely 100% that DVD burn is perfect? Try burning at lower speed maybe. SvenTheBear Posted August 22, 2008 Author Share Posted August 22, 2008 I tried about 20 different DVD's but i never get to any menu. The jumpers are correctly placed (IDE HD is Primary master). I did not try to install on sata drive, cause its my backup drive. :-( But why isnt there any error? Zephyroth SHOULD support it on Rev2, but obv something has gone wrong. You are "Waiting for root device" man.Go to the Wiki and the community to check how to solve this and more info... Probably,that is what you need...try updating the AppleNForceATA.kext from the terminal (if you have the one from the 10.5.1 or any other that does work).Try it ... To update this,put the .kext file where you can find it... As we have similar setup, Ill let you know how it goes. Tobias6 Posted August 25, 2008 Share Posted August 25, 2008 Used Zephyroth with TOH kernel 9.2 If you know your computer inside-out and do your research, its not too bad. Came up with a few probs post-install, but once all hardware is properly working, its ALL good. ugOSX Posted September 4, 2008 Share Posted September 4, 2008 I have an ownmade Leopard release made with the original Leopard DVD Anyway, try this: Under BIOS, set up the DEFAULT SETTINGS. Now get into advanced, choose USB, enable USB 1.0 and USB 2.0. Put USB Legacy OFF (note you must have an PS2 keyboard and mouse attached). Use the FullSpeed option under EHCI. Disable EHCI Handoff. Reboot and press F8 to start boting from DVD. You must see far ahead than the grey screen now. If the installer gives you an option to install any patch for AMD use it... If it gives you more than one use only one (probably the first). If system hangs, use the second, and so... "Hardwardly" talking, it's all you have to do for a good instalation. After you have a running OS X, try to turn on ONLY the USB Legacy under BIOS. I hope you'll get it!! Enjoy!
