yeager
HI, i've recently installed OSX 10.5.2 using the Kalyway DVD. However after many attempts of the installation failing, I ended up installing by deselecting a lot of drivers at the install phase. Now I do not have either the built in physical NIC nor the wireless working. I'm pretty familiar with FreeBSD, Linux environments but i'm struggling to get this working. I am using a Dell D600 and I wonder if someone can help me with the following two tasks... 1. How do I identify the wireless and physical network interfaces in the machine? In the BIOS I do not see any specific model numbers and I can't seem to figure out if during boot up the information is reported anywhere. 2. Once I do find out the exact NIC I have, where is the first place to start telling OSX? In FreeBSD I would edit the kernel config file in /usr/src/sys/i386/conf and rebuild a kernel with the NIC support I needed. However in OSX it seems I need to setup a kext. I'm a bit lost and wonder if someone can provide a few pointers? I tried looking for a basic network howto on here but couldn't find it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/122187-help-a-newbie-identify-his-network-interfaces/ Share on other sites
yeager
I used BuildSmart's PCIUtils and I didn't see the wireless card included. So I rebooted and, umm, embarrassingly the wireless was disabled! Switching that on and hey presto.. i'm now posting this from my Leopard install!
