-d0t-
Hi there, I am trying to install iatkos on a Latitude D630 (nVidia). I have been following the 'Install Guide For Dell Latitude D630 and D830', however have hit upon a problem. After successfully installing, I follow these steps: 1. Run command in terminal window: "while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done" 2. Start install of 10.5.4 combo update About 30% into the installation of the 10.5.4 combo update (judging by the progress bar), the PC freezes with the error "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button" I don't get a chance to edit the /System/InstallAtStartup/scripts/1, replacing "Don't steal mac os x.kext" with "Dsmos.kext". Nor do I get a chance to install the Sleep_Fix.zip. After this, the boot up fails. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there any way to roll back this update? thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/122034-iatkos-install-on-d630-1054-update-issue/ Share on other sites

wire_surfer
Well i was faced with a similar situation. The progress bar got stuck at around 20% with the message "Configuring Installer" Download "Pacifist" this helps u extract content from DMG files and packages Download the Combo Update DMG (If you are using Software Update..then don't use it ) Open it in Pacifist. run the script "while 1 ......" in a terminal Select package contents shown by pacifist and right click install .. REMEMBER TO BACK UP YOUR KEXTS . UTMOST IMPORTANT IS APPLEAHCIPORT.KEXT and IOAHCI.KEXT The system should update.. Now before restarting...replace the new kexts with the backed up ones. not all of them, just the ones you had patched. Now reboot. This should do the trick.
