I have been filing in the gaps and have been pretty successful in getting the machine up and running. The problem i am having now is this...

When i attach a USB or firewire external drive it does not mount as a drive. the usb keyboard and mouse work fine but the drives wont mount. even a usb flash drive will not mount. They do not even show up in disc utility. however i can see them in the system profiler. here is what the system profiler looks like with a USB thumb drive plugged in.

I have made some progress after reading a few threads i turned off the legacy USB support in the bios and restarted still no luck but then when i restarted again with the drive's (usb flash and a 1394 drive) connected it booted up with the drive's mounted. i ejected and reconnected the drive's several times and everything looks good so far. I will keep you informed of any changes.
