Wolfer
Hi All, Did a ton of searching, reading, etc. but before diving in and potentially wrecking everything I thought I'd post to see if someone had a simple explanation of what I might run into and what I'll need to do after running the Time Machine restore to get my Mac volume back to a good, known state. I have a "good" Time Machine image that's about a week old. For some reason, my Address Book decided to turn into a question mark and die on me on my Mac partition. I couldn't get the app back even after a reinstall from Pacifist'ing it out from the latest 10.5.4 combo pack. I started with Kalyway 10.5.2, ComboPack 10.5.3, and then the delta 10.5.4 install. All has been running fine until the Address Book decided to go {censored} up. Well. . . I want/need to get it back. The drive I am working with has a dual boot Vista/Hackintosh MBR (EFIv8) install. I'm using the Vista bootloader to launch the Darwinx86 bootloader. After I run the Time Machine restore, it appears that I will need to reinstall the Darwin x86 Bootloader to my MBR "Mac" partition. Thing is. . . what will happen to the Vista side of things? I was going to ghost the Vist parition just to be on the safe side, but I'm SURE someone here has run through this scenario before. I just couldn't seem to find any topics that matched exactly -- most dealt with single drives, GUID paritions, etc. Could anyone out there let me know what I will run into and AT A HIGH LEVEL (I can study myself) what I'll need to do to get things back to where they were last week? I assume I just have Time Machine take me back to where I was last week, likely reinstall EFIv8 DarwinX86 bootloader to the MBR Mac parition, and probably have to work on the Vista bootloader to get things back to where its active, allowing to me fire up Vista and/or the Darwin bootloader to get back into my Mac side of things. Anyway. . . anyone that's had dual boot Vista and OSX86 that's done a Time Machine restore that could lend some "experience" with it, I'd much appreciate!! I'm familar with all the bootefi.sh and restore tricks that need done. Again, I just didn't read about any of them that involved both the Vista bootloader AND Darwin's.
