Garry R Posted August 6, 2008 Share Posted August 6, 2008 Hey there all, I've spent a good few days reading this and other forums trying to reserach this, and i've read many many of the noob posts asking for help. I'm afraid to say that this is another of those threads... so please bear with me. I have tried.... Kalyway leopard 10.5.2 dvd intel amd iATKOS v4i 10.5.4 Leo4all v3 universal install DVD 10.5.2 sse2-3 ...and all three do the same thing. I get to the prompt asking me to press enter or F8 either way they manage about 6 lines of text before the PC reboots. From what i've read, this is a kernel issue...so... can anyone suggest based on my spec (CPUZ images below) what kernel to use and how to make it run from the install prompt on the various distributions i have. (I beleieve that the MACH kernel is supposed to be SSE2 compatible, which leo4all and Kalyway seem to install with... but they bnoth fail) I would really like to get this working without having to change any hardware (spending any money )....so any help at all would be fantastic Graphics Card - ATI Radeon 9550 I've removed all unnecessary hardware (TV Card / Sound Card / Extra HD's) and i'm using USB keyboard instead of PS2.... ....i'm stuck! Sosai X Posted August 6, 2008 Share Posted August 6, 2008 It's probably loading the EFI bootloader which requires SSE3, which your CPU doesnt have. You might get around that with the Chameleon bootloader, but it gets even trickier when you do it that way. Your CPU is pushing 6 years old. Bite the bullet and get new hardware that is known to work with osx86. koogar Posted August 6, 2008 Share Posted August 6, 2008 I'm having a similar problem, i installed iAtkos v1i r3 when i had a C2 Duo 6600 using a ide dvd driver on (ide.1) and a ide hard drive on (ide.2) quite a few times playing around i had everything working onboard sound and network using a realtek card not probs at all .I upgraded my cpu to a QUAD 6600 and added an extra 2 gig of ram . OSX still ran perfectly showed all the cores . I then decided to clone to a SATA drive after using carbon cloner and another program which would freeze half way through osx got corrupted so i decided to reinstall OSX but since then i just havent been able to reinstall OSX i tried taking 2 gig out but still no luck so i can only put this down to the Q6600 . Ive tried other builds Mac nub and iAtkos r4 but nothing else seemed to work .
