SticMAC™
I have an HP DV6716EZ 15,4" and everything on it works! including the Ir remote in Frontrow! Just stay away from the AMD models It is so compatible I merely cloned my Dell Dimension 9200(which runs vanilla) over onto its harddrive loaded the Graphics card kexts, sound kexts and battery meter/management, and it was ready to go! Mr. Psychopath
I'm currently compiling a list of affordable alternatives to a Macbook/Macbook Pro capable of running OSX86. What I really want, though, is one that can run a vanilla kernel. Currently, I've been looking at a Dell XPS. The price is on par with a Macbook, but the specs are roughly that of a Macbook Pro. Dell XPS M1330: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) Alpine White Standard Display with 2.0 Megapixel Webcam 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz Size: 160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM) CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive) 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS Intel® 3945 802.11a/g Mini-card Built-in Bluetooth capability (2.0 EDR) High Definition Audio 2.0 Price: $1,298 Is this compatible enough to properly run everything Vanilla? Also, is there anything more compatible/cheaper that I can get for a Vanilla laptop? Thanks in advance. Also, this machine is pretty user-upgradable, right? Mr. Psychopath
Does it run Vanilla, though? Can you get Apple updates all the way? The specs don't look too bad. I can't really find a place on HP's site to find an actual cost for that specific model, though. Mr. Psychopath
Hmm, upon closer inspection, it doesn't seem that their site is actually selling that particular model anymore. I'd have to get it on eBay or Amazon, most likely. What else is there?
