Han S
Hi guys, A few months ago I had succesfully install Kalyway 10.5.1 on my P5W DH Deluxe. Everything worked just like this link told "http://xiwen.de/blog/index.php/2008/01/07/der-perfekte-mac/" unfortunately this link is dead. Another similar link is this "http://macapper.com/2008/01/19/diy-hackint...c-pro-for-cheap" The bios settings of these links are the same. I followed these settings to install Kalyway 10.5.1. There is one thing I didn't folow. I chose MBR insteed of GUID; I did chose GUID first but ended up that installed Kalyway 10.5.1 only booted up with the install DVD inside the player. So I chose MBR and the installed Kalyway 10.5.1 booted without the install DVD. My spec are: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe with bios version 2206 Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 Corsair memory 3 X 1GB ASUS GT7300 Silent 256MB videocard Nec DVD recorder PATA Samsung 160GB SATA(I) HD HD had 3 partition: Leopard, XP and Data. I had a dualboot system. Recently I bough an Samsung 320GB SATA(II) HD and wanted to transfer Kalyway 10.5.1 from Samsung 160GB to Samsung 320GB by using the following methodes: 1. Back up with Carbon Copy Cloner 3.11 dierctly to Samsung 320GB (Leopard partition). Result: a blinking cursor. 2. Back up with Super Duper 2.5 dierctly to Samsung 320GB (Leopard partition). Result: a blinking cursor. 3. Back up with Super Duper 2.5 as a DMG file to Samsung 320GB (Data partition, this partition is Extended Journaled). Restore with Mac own Disk Utility. Result: a blinking cursor. 4. Back up with Mac own Disk Utility as a DMG file to Samsung 320GB (Data partition, this partition is Extended Journaled). Restore with Mac own Disk Utility. Result: a blinking cursor. So I installed a fresh Kalyway 10.5.1 on my new Samsung 320GB SATA(II) HD using the same settings as I did with Samsung 160GB SATA(I) HD. After install and a restart, everything seemed OK. But there is no internet connection, because there is no ethernetacrd (that's what the hardware profile showed). Only the firewirecard is shown. It seemed there was no ethernet connection at all, the led at the UTP connector of the motherboard didn't light up or blink. Even the led of my router where the UTP cabel is connected didn't light up or blink. There was also something weird with the connction. When I swich on the computer the led of my router where the UTP cabel is connected and the led at the UTP connector of the motherboard did light up!!! But when the Apple screen showed up (dark grey Apple logo on light grey background) I saw those leds turned off!!! It seemed there is wen somthing wrong during the boot procedure. But I still don't know what. If I booted up XP (I have a dualboot system), there is network connection! If I hook up the Samsung 160GB SATA(I) HD back, then there is connection again while in Leopard. I am sure there is no hardware issue. Do anyone know the problem/solution? Tek
Try the attached kext. I have used it before with my P5W DH Deluxe board. Use Kext Helper b7 if needed. Leopard should have support for the adapter by default so installing a different kext afterwards could actually stop it from working. Edit: Sorry, attachments not working for some reason. Han S
Hi Tek, Thank you for the kexts. There are 3 of them. Do I have to use all of them or only IONetworkingFamily.kext? When I installed Kalyway 10.5.1 on my Samsung 160GB SATA(I) HD, the network is supported by default settings. But when I did the same with a new bigger Samsung 320 SATA(II) HD, the network is not support anymore. I will try your kext. The other 2 are for audio support.
