SChief
I accidentally found a topic on the internet about OSx86. Seems interesting for me, so I decided to try it on. I downloaded Kalyway 10.5.1 and burned it on a TDK DVD-RW disk. So far so good. Then I tried it on. But the problem was, after Darwin asks to press a button, I did it, it loaded and on the end it just restarts. So I was thinking that the DVD was not burned well, so I burned it again. But it didn't make any difference. I looked everywere for a solution, but I couldn't found anything. Please, can someone help me..? The specs of my pc: Dell Dimension 4550 Intel P4 @ 2.4 Ghz 1GB RAM Intel i845PE chipset Sapphire ATI Radeon X1650 Pro AGP (256MB GDDR3) IBM Deskstar 180GXP 80GB 7200rpm Thanks. I already tried -v, -x, -s and -f, but it didn't make any difference. Please.., someone..? tootone
your P4 doesnt work with EFI V8. I have the same problem and I have found no solution as of yet. The only thing you can do is find a working version without EFI V8 untill someone fixes the problem. your P4 doesnt work with EFI V8. I have the same problem and I have found no solution as of yet. SChief
Without EFI V8... Hmm.. Then I'm going to search if there's a Leopard without EFI V8. EDIT: Too bad, all the Tiger versions I found were for SSE3... :'( Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117971-darwin-automaticly-restarts-after-loading/#findComment-839644 Share on other sites

tootone
Ok, so I have kindof figured out how to bypass the whole efi V8 problem. but It just starts a whole new set of issues. So I downloaded Leo4all V3 I then downloaded the Chameleon PPF then I downloaded PPF-O-Matic Chameleon is a boot loader. a replacement for EFI V8, the problem I have not found a release that auto installs it as of yet. I patched the ISO with chameleon and everything work great. I finally got leo4allv3 to boot into the install. the problem, is that Leo4all V3 AUTO INSTALLS EFI V8 when you install os x. No matter what I do I cannot stop this from happening. So I just have to find a different distro that doesnt auto install EFI V8. This is really getting ridiculous. *EDIT* Oh and I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion of a distro to use. Trial and error is getting ridiculous and expensive. I am almost out of dvd's:} Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117971-darwin-automaticly-restarts-after-loading/#findComment-841930 Share on other sites
tootone
kalyway 10.5.2 + chameleon = perfect install. patching is easy install is easy. only problem is that it still installed efi v8, but you can boot into os x with the DVD in the drive, and then reinstall chameleon. good luck. SChief
Thanks for all the info! Really cool there's someone that can help me. Maybe you can just use a DVD-RW, so you can rewrite it everytime..? I'll try it tomorrow! Thanks. Psst.., but can I also use the Kalyway 10.5.2..? If not, it would be the third version for me to download. First Kalyway 10.5.1, then .2, and maybe now Leo4All V3. So if I just patch the install, then install it, boot into OSX with the DVD, then reinstall Chameleon, EFI V8 would be gone forever? Would be great if so. I also finded this topic: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...amp;#entry47386 Maybe the ultimate solution..? Patch with JaS 1111a generic v4.2b..? tootone
well sure if you want to use 10.4.5. And yes you should use kalyway. with leo4all I still had problems booting after install. so definately get kalyway 10.5.2 if you do not already have it. patch it with chameleon and it should work like a charm. Also, (I may just give it to a demon so everyone can have it) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/117971-darwin-automaticly-restarts-after-loading/#findComment-842830 Share on other sites
