Hi,

I know this is a hard one to crack, and probably not a real mac problem, but you guys are my last resort...

This is the deal:

I have osx86 (iATKOS) working pefectly on a separate hd. This was tripple booted with XP64 and Vista 64, the last one installed mainly for the ability to use easyBCD. Vista and XP64 was on a separate drive (different partitions) with a third partition with some old stuff on it.

I needed to to some rearanging of the files on my systems, and I deleted the third partition on the Vista and XP disc, and then formated that one for use in OSX (with Disc Utility). That was a mistake, since the boot loader got all screwed up...

Well, sorted the bootloader thing by formatting the vista partition, and installing win2k3 to fix the boot issue (with the OSX drive disconnected). Apparently I had to remove the OSX partition aswell, otherwise none of the systems would install. Now the 2003 system boots fine, but my XP64 system have the dreaded "NTOSKRNL.EXE missing or corrupt".

So, I tried reinstalling XP64, and as I thought the installer said that a previous install was found but damaged, and I chose to correct this. Everything works fine untill it starts reinstalling all the drivers. What happens is that the Windows Logo Testing question pops up, and at the same time my keyboard and mouse stops responding... The result being that the installer stalls and waits for keyboard or mouse input, but since they're not working it just sits there...

I have tried to restart the system, attach another mouse and another keyboard to different ports, and nada (the insallation resumes from the "installing windows" phase).

So, what I did was to log in to my 2003 system, manually remove all files containing the phrase "hdsp" (the RME card) from the windows folder on the incomplete XP64 installation and restart the system, my thought being that even if my keyboard and mouse stops working, the installer would continue and eventually reboot.

This obviously didn't work since the driver is cached somewhere else on the system, but I can't find out where (The same Windows Logo Testing screen pops up and waits for my input on how to proceed).

So, my question is if anyone has a clue on how to resolve this (maybe where the driver files are cached and if it's safe to remove those folders)?

I'm almost there, and I really can't find the time to reinstall the whole system, all the drivers and all the plugins (I am in the final phase of completing my album...)

Btw, all my "work" discs are disconnected from the system, aswell as the OSx disc, leaving only one disc with the two windows partitions.

Please, if anyone of you have any clue please help me.

Thanx

Update: It seems that the XP installer drops the drivers one at a time to reinstall them correctly, and I had the misfortune of having keyboard and mouse disabled before I could answer the Windows Logo Testing prompt. Well, the solution was quite simple - crawl in to the furniture where the machine is placed (too many cables to connect/disconnect and hog it out of there), holding a flashlight in the mouth and fiddle a PS/2 mouse onto it. Voila - behold a working installation. =)

Sorry to you all for reading my previous quite long post...

But, the original thing was that Disk Utility f**ed up the partition table. What should I use instead? Or is there no way of mixing NTFS with MAC OS extended partitions on the same HD with a dual boot?
