Ailos
Hello, I installed Tiger 10.4.11 via the XXX rev 2.0 disc. When I installed it I checked off a few of the kernels thinking that it would give me an option to choose which one to boot from like Linux does (silly me), but it ended up using 8.9.1 Apr 23 Universal (found using uname). [EDIT - Fixed version] Everything works fine (speedstep, graphics, wireless, sound, etc.) except for the sleep function. I've tried using all three modes of hibernation (0,1,and 3) all of which produce the same result. When I initiate sleep, the screen goes blank and the harddrive stops, but both the power light and the fan remain on for around 30 seconds to a minute. Then the whole system just turns off. I have a feeling its a kernel problem, but if anyone else has an idea, please share. Also, how does one go about changing a kernel? Will I have to completely reinstall via the XXX rev 2.0 disc? Which kernel appears to work best? Thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115793-sleep-problem-black-screen-w-fan-then-shutdown/ Share on other sites
