I tried to install osx86 using linux using this guide, so I was at the part where I just had to execute the command in the terminal. I did, and after maybe 5 seconds, it displayed things like "--- bytes transfered in --- seconds". That's all it did. I thought that couldn't be that quick...but I restarted and it shows this message:

"Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.122

223 MB memory

VESA v3.0 30MB (S3 Graphics ProSavage DDR Family BIOS)

Use ^ v keys to select startup volume.

hd(0,1) tiger-x86

Press enter to start uo Darwin/x86 blah blah blah...

boot: "

No matter what I type in (-v, -x, ?) I get the message "System Config File '/Library/Preferences/System Configuration/com.apple.boot.plist' not found"

What did I do wrong? Is there another way? I'm hearing of people talking about using vmware to install it but I have no idea what that is. I'm doing this on a ~3 year old computer so I have no idea what the processor is. Thanks for your help.

The deadmoo image (10.4.1) is old. It's more simple to install with a newer DVD until dd.

Use CPU-Z (MS) or cat /proc/cpuinfo (Linux) to check if your CPU can SSE2 (no SSE2=no OSX86)

i had the same problem. how big is your iso? my problem was not extracting it properly. use winrar and make sure to say extract. dont just drag and drop.

Actually it was an IMG file. And yeah, I made sure I extracted it properly :D . But like the first replier said, the deadmoo image is old (10.4.1) which I also learned from other users. But hey, I'm going to get a newer ISO file (from a friend of course..) and I won't give up!
