Fuzzy_Logic Posted July 13, 2008 Share Posted July 13, 2008 Yesterday I installed Kalyway 10.5.1 Intel Only and checked the sse2 system box, because I have read and seen from experience that it installs and behaves better.My system is AsRock 4core1600 Twins , e2180 cpu ,sata HDD and sata DVD-RW ,usb keyboard and PS2 mouse. Firt i noticed that this time(using sse2 system) my network card was installed fine for the first time, but i didn't fet an ip, at status it said:"self assigned IP address" and i couldn't renew my ip address, I also noticed that on the switch i use the 2 led's where my computer is connected were flashing all the time(1 sec they were on, another sec off and so on).I thaught that the driver was wrong (allthough in System profiler my network card was seen corectly,also my firewire which works perfectly) ,I started to install all drivers I had, I used the iso's from older distro like kaly 10.4.10 , xxx_10.4.11 and Jas ,I just read today about pacifist, if I would have known about this prog I would have tried the drivers from Kalyway 10.5.1 / 10.5.2 and Leo4allv2/v3 and Iatkos. Anyway ,now my neetwork card isn't recognised anymore and in system preferences/network it says "Network cable unplugged" ,but it is plugged in. Where can I find the right drivers, how can I remove these drivers ? The network card in onboard in the MB.Firewire is on PCI. I also want to know which driver/patch I should install for my ps2 mouse, I tried all, restarted but nothing happened. Want also to know if there is another method to get both cores working except that of Kabyl(hope i got your name right) , the problem would be there, that I have never flashed my BIOS with a floppy disk(don't even have a floppy disk) just from Windows. That would be it.I hope somebody could help me, I'm trying for months to get this working and still am very enthusiastic about it. P.S. which would be the best disto for my configuration ? Fuzzy_Logic Posted July 13, 2008 Author Share Posted July 13, 2008 well, I found another thread where my problem was debated and the ethernet problem is solved, I'm actually typeing from OSx86 . I'm very happy, using both cores remains hard to top and also ps2 mouse support.Unfortunately I cand buy a usb mouse , I am forced to use that of a friend but this isn't that nice.
