Damn me for wanting SLI on my Windows dual-boot! ;)

Despite what the 10.5.2 HCL says, I'm having a few severe issues with my MSI P6N Diamond. I'm going to start with one which I think is triggering the most panics: ETHERNET.

The HCL says LAN is working with forcedeth so when I used the 10.5.2 Kalyway install, I made sure to select it. In Leopard, Ethernet will do one of two things: 1) It will work for a short period of time (perhaps a certain volume of transfer) before it stops working. Network settings will show it's connected but nothing will transfer for any application. 2) For certain transfers, typically those at fast speeds or large volumes, I'll receive a Kernel Panic. Such examples include iTunes Store song previews and transfers within my home network.

Using cpus=1 resolves the issue but I'd REALLY like use all four cores if I can. (Preliminary XBench results put me near those of a stock MacPro, and I haven't even tried overclocking yet.)

Any suggestions would be helpful. Perhaps I should reinstall forcedeth? Feel free to throw some ideas my way.

Thanks,

Hi there, checkout http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=87901..... :)

Bless you sir. I guess my forum search was a little too narrow!

No problem.....be aware that on-board LAN can be a problem (as is my own and others experience, hence I usually install OS X without a network driver to begin with...and install the relevant driver kext later) and that MSI mobos depending on model may require a modded BIOS..... :)

eww. Modded BIOSes make cherubs cry... or me... one of two.

If my next install doesn't work, I'll try your post-install network driver method. Thanks!

hey verdant I'm having network problems on a MSI P6N Diamond – and no version or method using forcedeth is working for me, it recognizes my on-board ethernet, but doesn't get a proper connection using DHCP or manually

so could you enlighten me on the possibility of having to mod my BIOS? or at least point me in the right direction?
