Neo Link
Hello. I just ran into a big problem when running Windows XP on my Macbook Pro today (via Boot Camp), and I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me what to do. I have a Macbook Pro running Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2. The Windows partition runs Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3. CPU: Intel Core Duo 2, 2.4 GHz RAM: 2 GB Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT, 512 MB HD: 160 GB (74 GB Mac, 74 GB Windows) I was using Windows today with no problems and I shut the computer off for a while. When I booted it again in Windows, it ran as if I was running it in Safe Mode: the resolution and depth were down to the lowest. Maybe it is in Safe Mode. I tried to put the resolution and color depth back up, but it didn't let me. A friend told me it could be a driver problem. I downloaded the latest driver update for my card (recent 175.19 release) and tried installing it, but it said that it could not find compatible drivers for my hardware. I'm running the OS X side right now. The last significant, system-changing thing I did since I last booted my computer on Windows was install a large Boot Camp update with an iTunes and Quicktime update. I don't know if this might have anything to do with the problem. The only solution that comes to my mind right now is to reformat the Windows partition. I recently reformatted it due to a virus outbreak that severely affected the performance of the system and I'd hate to re-install my games and other programs all over again, "evacuating" necessary files in a folder on my 30 GB iPod, so I'm looking for a less drastic solution ASAP. Can someone please help me? EDIT: Nevermind, I found another driver update (167.44) from the Apple support pages when I looked through Google one more time, which addressed problems with Boot Camp specifically. The graphics are back to normal now. You can lock this or something. <.< Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/115233-resolution-and-color-depth-problem-driver-problem/ Share on other sites
