sackie
I restored my install with time machine, and now my system will not boot anymore, I only get a blinking line like the one you get when you can type something in a dos screen. But when I put in a OSx86 DVD (Leo4all first version) and wait for the timer of 10 seconds to run out it will boot just fine. How can I get it to boot without the DVD in it? SticMAC™
Time machine doesn't do the PC_EFI_V8/Chameleon part for you, you have to redo the bootloader by running whatever you used before! sackie
Thats what I thought, so I tried some things with osx86 tools, but no luck yet. How should I do this? SticMAC™
boot with the DVD in Get Chameleon from his website ****.HU the just run it and it will ask you where you want to install it to? I always get confused with PCWizz's chameleon on which partition is which and then evidently screw things up! Remember if you use MBR, I think the partition must be active! do this with a Gparted or something Disk SticMAN Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114168-boot-after-time-machine-restore/#findComment-808448 Share on other sites
aceboy222
How about you install Leopard again with the disc, and during the install be sure to install the bootloader. And then when you start up the computer, choose to restore the system from a Time Machine backup, or you can register and go into the system and go to /Applications/Utilities/Migration Assistant and restore your computer. Your computer will be back to normal, and it'll include the bootloader. And then wipe your backup drive and backup again, because this time if you backup, the bootloader will be backed up too Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114168-boot-after-time-machine-restore/#findComment-808456 Share on other sites

zakfontaine
Yes, you must reinstall the efi. A guy that goes by ccg made a bootable solution that you can just copy to a thumb drive, and then load through terminal using the DVD you used to load os x. Look for bootefi. Good luck. Here's the link to the download for boot efi. The readme will walk you through it. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=26723 Give that a try. Good luck. There's another thread just like this titled "Back up Hackintosh and Time Machine". Look there if this doesn't work. Good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114168-boot-after-time-machine-restore/#findComment-808658 Share on other sites
