gmi109
I am having problems finding the proper method for updating from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3. I have been searching google all day, and can't figure out how to get my amd system to update to 10.5.3. I am using the Kalyway 10.5.3 combo update package with the Kalyway kernel installer (i have tried with and without the modbin kernel). For whatever reason, when it finishes updating, I get a blue screen and the rotating symbol signaling a shutdown (it never does shutdown so I manually shut it off). When I reboot it, I type "update -v" like the readme says, that seems ok, but after that it always stalls and never boots. It stalls right after it says detecting firewire security mode: defaulting to full secure. It sits there for a while thinking, about 30 seconds later, I can hear my hard drive spin down and nothing else happens. I have read in a few places that I might need Marvin's AMD patcher, and decrypts? What are those, and how do I use them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! gmi109
Ok, I have made some progress. I make a second "test" installation to make changes to the main one. I have done a fresh install of kalyway 10.5.2 on the main one, booted it, ran through first time setup, then switched over to the test installation. I then installed the 10.5.3 kalyway update, then the kalyway kernel package with modbin kernel selected. After that finished I ran Marvin's AMD tool and made the patcher and replace.sh files and put them in the root of the main installation. Then I ran the patcher from single user mode. It was successful. It works great up until the point when it tries to load the Desktop. The desktop comes up for a few seconds, then flashes to a light blue screen, after a few seconds, it tries to the the desktop again, and gets stuck in an endless loop of this. Any ideas what I could try next?? Please!! I want to play Spore!
