Through fire and flame (unsupported hardware returns, countless installs) I finally managed to come to a slicky 10.5.3, with full vga and lan support, sleep functions, shutdown, etc, etc, and your regular stereo audio.

However, I was fiddling with my install in a 'test' partition, since I adopted the two installments method, which saves a lot of effort in the long run.

For you who are not aware with the method (it's a life saver), it consists in installing osx two times, in two independent partitions, with the same size.

This way you can test with updates, scripts or patches and in case something goes wrong, all you have to do is restore the previously working partition and try another thing.

It worked great, however, when I finished tuning my system, I decided it was time to do one last restore to the original osx partition, and start playing, cold water washed down on me when my system just hung after post.

After searching a lot, I came to the fact that the Darwin Bootloader was somehow lost in the restore (I thought it was safe :) ).

Tried all the Darwin restore methods I could find, and none got my installment loading without the aid of the bootdvd.

I even did a fresh install to the 'original' partition, to recover Darwin. It booted fine, into both installments. But when I restore the install with all the tweaks into the recent one, it breaks Darwin again.

So, after this long and boring explanation, what I want help with is: I need a way to restore the 'test' partition into the original one, but keeping intact the Darwin Bootloader. Does any one know of a way to do this? Any suggestions at all?

Please excuse if my writing is a bit confusing, english ain't my first language.

Thanks for any help!

Managed to do it using ccg's method, I found here:
