hey all, first and foremost thanks for taking the time to help me.

i have a stable JaS version of 10.4.8 dual booted alongside an (original) Windows XP Media Centre.

My aim is to completely remove both OSs and then re-install the 10.4.8 because I now have no need for XP and have got hold of the most necessary drivers for OSX (internet, sound etc.).

I think I need to erase the partition with windows on, but that is not accessible from OSX and I don't think deleting a the partition thru XP, while it is in use, is a very good idea.

Ideally I would format the entire HD in HFS+ or whatever, from OSX, then reboot with the JaS DVD in the drive and install.

Is there any way of doing this?!

Thanks in advance,

Andy :(

Ultimate Boot CD http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html , boot up and format the drive FAT32. That's it.

Am downloading the ZIP. Am a bit unsure though, because if I completely format the drive to FAT32:

1. Will the BIOS still be intact and the JaS DVD bootable?

2. At what point will the HD be formatted to HFS+ for OSX installation? Or can that be done on FAT32?

Thanks,

Andy

BIOS is unchanged by formatting disks, so you'll be ok. JaS DVD is bootable, you'll have to select boot order in BIOS (DVD Drive, then Hard Drive)

Once the DVD has booted, and you get to the welcome screen, choose Disk Utility from the top menu bar. You will then be able to format the disk hfs+

hth.

You could also burn all your patches, fixes etc to cd or put them on a usb stick for use when the main install is done.
