Hey people my DVD reader/writer just died and i wanna install MAC today...

Could i mount the DVD image on my windows partition using Daemon Tool then just boot from it and install MAC? Or do i necessarly have to burn it to dvd and boot from it??

THX

ehhhhh...

no.

You need to burn and install. One option would be to install using vmWare while in windows, but its quite a pain to figure out if your not familiar with it. Good luck.

Yes, worked like a charm here with 10.4.4. (non-prepatched version)

Just setup your VMWare machine, add your native HDD with the option independent/persistance, and try to mount the image directly, and if that does not work, mount it via daemon tools.

I did not even had to convert the dmg to iso, I just mounted the dmg and bang. Showed up as a disk in VMWare. So I just doubleclicked it and voila.

Maybe it will work with the prepatched bootable DVD, too. Dunno, you'll have to check it out, but VMWare is the way to go.
