CT86
I am trying and failing miserably at a triple boot using grub with 3 seperate hard drives. Hardware: Intel Q6600 Intel DG33TL Nvidia 7800GT 256mb 3 Sata Hard Drive Disks USB External DVD Drive My problem is that I cannot get into the hard drive mac is installed on after the computer restarts and installation is complete. I get absolutely nothing except the initial white underscore in the top left corner of the screen which eventually goes away to a completely black screen. No hard drive light flashes, no restart after a few minutes, nothing. If I specify grub to boot to the drive it seems to time out and restart, or if I configure it as the primary hard drive to boot from in BIOS the underscore goes away and the black screen ensues. Also I cannot type anything and do not get any error messages. I have tried an install using Kalyway 10.5.1 and 10.5.2 currently I have the drive set as a GUID but I have also tried MBR. I did not remove any of the drives during my Kalyway installation. In BIOS I have set my drive configuration: Configure SATA as: IDE the other options are RAID and AHCI however Linux and Vista have already been installed under the IDE setting. Here is my grub entry: title Apple 10.5.2 root (hd2,0) savedefault makeactive chainloader +1 Is there anything I overlooked? What kernel works the best with the 'Retail Edge' package? Should I use MBR or GUID? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. BigPimpin
MBR with 3 separate disks is the simplest and easiest approach IMO. Where is grub installed? Where did you put the chainloader file? Where is grub.conf? Have you tried the AHCI setting in BIOS for the drives? I'd try the AHCI setting first. CT86
I'll try MBR again Grub is installed on the first partition of the first hard drive, which is also where this directory is: /boot/grub/grub.conf Vista is on the second hard drive, and I wanted OSx86 on the third I have not tried ahci because I did not want to have to do work arounds to get the other 2 OSs functional again. I'm trying to leave it as a last resort. CT86
using AHCI in BIOS and MBR format worked (the last thing I tried) I used kalyway 10.5.1 I tried the same grub configuration and have OSX and Vista up and running, just have to reinstall fedora and upgrade to 10.5.2 Problem solved. Thanks BigPimpin for you help and recomendations.
