pccp
I just got Kalyway 10.5.2 installed on my asus p5w dh deluxe with ati 3870 and dlink atheros wireless card.. all working fine, and its a joy to run os x. The problem now is that I am getting random crashes, completely random hangups. When I try to force quit, the application gets stuck. Today it started with spotlight, it stopped working and whenever i tried to invoke it i got the spinning beach ball. Killing it in activity monitor resulted in the application not showing up in the list anymore, but also not having spotlight being useable anymore. The same thing happened with Safari and Mail the other day and when I tried to force quit/kill them, they just wouldn't quit. After using the terminal command "ps aux" I could see that the process was still being shown and had a PID number, but all the other numbers for it were at "0". Typing "kill -9" would not kill the stagnant process either. The only way to get functionality back for the app that this happened to was to restart. This has been happening since install. So far it has happened with mail, safari, finder, activity monitor, and spotlight. Seems like a random occurence, but I am not sure what the cause is. Bad kernel? My sleep works and everything is great except for this crashing. Has anybody experienced this or does anybody have any suggestions? I haven't checked the System log yet because I'm not too familiiar with it but I will be doing that next. supersized
I've had the same problems, and I haven't found a solution. But if you search google you will find that several owners of real macs are having the same issues, so I'm hoping for 10.5.3 to fix it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/104931-random-application-crashesnot-recoverable/#findComment-747120 Share on other sites
wahwahman89
Try a reinstall with a different distro. I tried several before on AMDs and Zeph was the best. Leo4All has similar problems. Try it I suggest. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/104931-random-application-crashesnot-recoverable/#findComment-747218 Share on other sites
