samandsonsnh
noob here looking for some help just got a new Toshiba PS305D-S8818 specs. below. I have been trying for a few weeks now to get leopard up and running with no luck. First using leo4allv3 and kept getting hung at "Waiting for root device" although for some reason every now and then on retry's it would load a bit further until I got the now dreaded "calibation failed" message. I have since gave up on leo4allv3 and started working with Kalyway amd-intel10.5.2 which was almost an effortless install on my old dell insprion5160 with a p4. Kalyway- Here is the issue I get the same issue as with leo4all with the Calibation but not the root devise problem and if I type cpus=2 at the darwin prompt it will load for a while and then hang at ntfs disk??????. Hopefully someone can help point me in the right direction here. And Just before the hang this is the screen message " CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page: p=102[lssave] clearing CS_VALID Toshiba P305D-S8818 AMD Turion 64x2AMD M690G chipset 250GB (5400 RPM) Serial ATA hard disk drive ATI RadeonTM X1250 128MB-831MB Atheros802.11 b/g wireless-LAN And yes I have spent countless hours searching the forums and have found no solutions Thanks. samandsonsnh
Sorry to hear that Dan, I wish I could post a better status update but nothing seems to work so far I have now tried with leo4all, kalyway and right now im on to Zephyroth 10.5.2rev.1 with no luck. I have even tried bypassing this pc and installing all versions on an externel usb with no luck there either. I still cant senn to figure out what this "calibation" error is all about. One thing though I have at least been able to get to the grey apple screen using -F at the Darwin promt but it just reads the drive for a while and then hangs there. If you find a solution please share. Thanks.OSX007?? vmware I thought that was for running windows on a mac?? If not let me know at least I could get out of using vista. I have succesfully got Kalyway 10.5.2amd-intel up and running on an old dell laptop but it has no good graphics and my wife is about to kill me as iweb wont work on it for some reason. Riboild
BTW... That problem you were having was actually do to a timing problem that Leopard has with the memory controller, If I am remembering correct, the truth is, if this happens, as annoying as it is, is to restart your system, because for me, it would sometimes take first boot sometimes, or as many as 10 restarts, so its interesting, but whats happening is that the os kernel or some part of it that is booting iniitally to get a lock on how fast the memory is going or like the processor is getting confused either due to the memory timings or the dual core shared memory controller and it causes it to go hey, whats up with that, Or, we are going backwards, and it locks there. the way to try and fix this is to change your time backwards like 2-4 hours behind or like i do sometimes, go a friggin whole day back and it should work.... let me know if this helps!!!! One thing also to note, is that for some reason, probably due to kexts included with the releases, the onboard sata drive with the Toshiba is not recognized, and only thru use of either a usb thumbdrive or how i did intially, using a USB sata enclosure, you can install it there, but it will not work from within the internal sata drive. I am currently working on the new LawLessPPCPhenom AMD release and will update on how that went later, but I can say from experience, that I could get all the way through 10.5.4 iAtkos AMD and for the most part everything would work, as long as you were using a USB harddrive in an enclosure, which I have 3 of and at least a dozen sata drives sitting around... So thats good news, problem is Vid Drivers homie, which I was only using vanilla drivers here, which on this damned chipset of a hell, doesnt exactly line up with anything else since its supposed to be an ATI x1250 vid card, but to everything else it is actually a x1200... Fun Fun Fun... Ill have an update later tomorrow!!! Riboild
Ok so a little late for the reply but, life gets busy... lol So I am currently running on a Toshiba P305D-S8818 with two 320 Gig sata HDs, one with Vista 64Bit Ultimate, and the other with XP SP3 dual booting with Leopard 10.5.5 Updated from LawLessPPCPhenom AMD Release using the patched update. I ended up just purchasing a Atheros atheros ar5008 wifi card which pretty closely mimics what is in the Macbook pro internal card. With this, I am able to get online but unfortunately its slow. Bootup can take anywhere from 5 minutes, to sometimes I go make a sandwich drink a beer, call up the old lady, and its finally booted to desktop. Wierdly enough though, as some others are having with the sb600 Alexia (or whatever the sound card is called), where sound will be all garbled and slow, but if you move the mouse/touchpad, it will be ok. Another thing is, that darn ATI Radeon x1250 Integrated vid card. No such luck getting it to work, though others have claimed there is a voodoo witches brew of drivers that will get it to work, albeit without qe and ci enabled. Other then these shortfalls it works with all other things.... Though proggies like dvd player and garage band are inaccessible due to sound card not correctly registering or showing up correctly even though its making sounds. and oPengGL is not enabled so game are not able to be played eitherso it mostly just a look at oh this is cool install. You can of course browse, and post in forums but that gets old. So if anybody is around that can help out, we'd sure be glad if ya could drop us a line Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/104187-toshiba-amd-64x2-need-help-been-trying-for-weeks/#findComment-997952 Share on other sites
