10.4.3 8F1111A Patched Jas v4.2b : cannot write partition map

Hi everybody,

 

I need help : I tried to install the 10.4.3 dvd on my usb drive : it boots, shows up the language select & license agreement. Good.

 

Then, as no disk appears, I launch the disk utility, select a partition on the USB disk and try to erase it. No way, osx keeps telling me that it cannot write the partition map :/

 

I tried all sort of things : the diskpart... id=ad trick, I tried to mount the usb disk inside my PC, I tried to erase the whole disk with partition magin, to create a linux partition, a fat32 partition etc... no way, it doesn't want to find this damn partition map.

 

Has anybody already gone through this problem ?

I went through that problem with a sata hd on my laptop. Acronis helped me by making it the active partion on the HD and then the Disk utility would see the partition, do the full erase and write the partition map.

 

I don't know if Acronis will do the same for USB, but I think it does.
