:dev: Hi. My friend's got Mac OS X 10.4.3 Tiger for x86 - Install DVD (iso file), and I've got VMWare 5.

So I've decided to try install Mac OS X on my PC (but for begin - under VMWare). I've set up a new Virtual Machine on VMWare - system: Other, version: Other......, but I think it is not important now. I've attached ISO image of Mac OS X Install DVD as a CD/DVD drive in VMWare. Then powered on - what I see is VMWare Loading... then a message - Press any key to install Mac OS X (9,8,7...) - so I've pressed enter (I know - stupid explanation ^^ and I think useless, but for sure). Next that I've seen was "Darwin x86 Loading". I took few seconds, then I've seen a screen when Mac OS X boots - gray image with Apple logo in center. It took few seconds too, and then I've seen few messages:

Waiting for remote debugger connection.
kdp_poll: no debugger device

In the center was written that I need to restart my computer - blah blah blah (in 4 languages).

I've tried to run it many times, but the same appeared.

What am I doing wrong? Have I got to do something else?

Please help me ;p

BTW: Under VMWare can I increase the VRAM or use my native graphic card? It could be useful when I run multimedia applications under it.

I dunno VMware that well, but that error tends to happen when the install DVD is corrupted - bad burn, or the MD5 checksum did not match somewhere during the transition from dmg to iso to patched iso to burned DVD.

Some people do the ISO conversion with a "demo" utility not knowing that it only translates the first 300k of the image. JaS 4.2b patch has a readme file with all the MD5 checksum codes in it, as well as the MD5 application that generated them. So the first thing to check is to see if the sums of what you burned the DVD from match what this file says.

Commpage problems also can be SSE3 instruction set related. If you don't have the SSE3 emulator installed, that also can lead to errors like that one.

just go to directory where you've got your virtual machine and edit the YourVirtualMachineName.vmx file and just add a line:

svga.vramSize = "VRAM size in bytes"

save, boot and have fun

to check it - go to Display control panel -> settings tab -> advanced -> card tab, and you will see the amount of VRAM.

but still its VMWare SVGA card :S - is there any solution to use another SVGA card?
