oh I thought it wasn't possible with an Acer 5100, did it detect your hard drive?

answering your request you should check which version of realtek audio you have and search for taruga's solution in this forum

for the graphics driver sounds like natit.kext is needed

i'll follow this thread, i've got one of those myself

its the aspire 5100-3949 (at least thats what the sticker says but im finding the sticker to be incorrect on a lot of stuff soo...)

when i boot up it throws up an error saying natit.kext can't loador sumtin of the sort along with a lot of audio .kext s (ill write them down and post them next time)

yah it detected the hard drive right off the bat (it didnt when i tried 10.4.8 a while back) i used either kalyway or zephyroth(almost sure its the latter)

it does not detect any audio chip in the system profiler, soo i don't kno what i need to do there.

the graphics chip is based off the 200m or x300 (it says 200m at the top when booting, but ati's site says 300x for the express 1100)

edit: found a linux forum (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/no-sound-on-acer-laptop-599047/) where a poster says that the audio is not realtek but ati ill read into this a lil more and repost

edit2:its an ati-ixp southbridge so if i can find a workaround it should fix both my probs. the wiki had a link to a driver but its outdated and dead. hopefully its out there somewhere.

I'm running an Acer as well. Can you give me some more details on the image you used. So far, I haven't found one that is detecting the harddisk.

Sure I can, just download

http://www.mininova.org/tor/1103078

iatkos 10.5.1 amd

the only problem is that i just can't get it to work with the proper native resolution, and that makes it impractical to use, too stressing for your sight

best regards
