dsc106
The Macbook Pro has a line in port. I plugged my iPod into the line in port, and in the audio preferences, I can see that the computer is seeing the line in (the audio meter is going up and down for the line in port)... but I can't seem to get the line in input to route to my internal speakers and play through my laptop? Anyway to do this? Whether its a 3rd party app or an option in Leopard?

DarlokDC
Hey, I had the same problem with my MacBook. This little freeware app from Rogue Amoeba nicely solves the problem. I wanted it so that I can use my macbook as an ad hoc stereo receiver for my home theatre system. Works great! Almost forgot, the name of the app in question is "LineIn" http://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/ Cheers!
ooZberg
I have noticed that you can simply connect a mic to your mac and then start quicktime, choose new audio recording, then just turn up the volume in quicktime and you will here the sound throw the speakers. This should work with line-in also i guess.
