Notes: It seems max. bit rate is 54Mbit/sec.

 

I'd put back the kexts from 10.4.8 (the 10.4.5 never worked for me) and add his manufacturer and device ID to the

/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros5424.kext/Contents/Info.plist

or maybe in

/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros.kext/Contents/Info.plist

How do i add the manufacture ID and device ID in the info.plist

I also dont no wat to do with these

When i rebooted from the steps asap18 gave me i got an error.

It says 

System extension cannot be used. The system extension "/system/library/extensions/IO80211Family.kext/contents/plugins/AirPortAtheros5424.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the products vendor for an update.

 

 

*EDIT*

I also tryed doing the whole thing over again using the Atheros Tutorial...it didnt work

Rammjet told me i was missing the driver for my slot so i got the driver and my mac0sx86 recognizes the card but all i have is an icon with the option "power off card" and everything else is dulled.

He also says that in the tutorial u should get a popup in network in system preferences..and i never get that

umm...idk ive tried everything to get this card working but idk..its not..like i said b4 it shows up but the only option thats there is turn off the card. I think i have to edit the plist in atheros kext but idk how to do that stuff

alrighty, i here to save us all alot of pain and sufferring.

sorry i didnt get this to up earlier but i guess some people are pretty much helpless.

 

here it its... Netgear.WG511T.Wireless.Fixer.pkg

 

Netgear.WG511T.Wireless.Fixer.pkg.zip

 

just unzip and install then restart.

it should work after the restart. (this is for all wg511t users.)

 

and if it dosent you may have to change the bsd name of the airport in the NetworkInterfaces.plist from en1 to en0.

Both of them r similar except 1 stops at io80211famil.kext and the other at airportatheros5424.kext..the wording i think are the same

sudo -s (press enter)
your password (press enter)
sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/ (press enter)
sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/ (press enter)
diskutil repairPermissions / (press enter)

 

then reboot

ok, I think you should start from scratch.

Download the 10.4.8 combo update from apple.

Delete the /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext you have, sounds like it's getting screwy.

Using Pacifist, open the update, select and install ONLY the IO80211Family.kext

Delete the two kext caches and reboot.

 

This should take you to where we started.

 

In windows get your manufacturer ID and Device ID.

 

Insert it like this

 

<string>pcixxxx,yyyy</string> -with manf =xxxx dev=yyyy

 

 

for example; I think yours should be:

 

<string>pci0271,12</string>

 

I prefer to use Property List Editor that installs with developer tools. Or, you can use nano in terminal, or even textedit if you are care full not to screw up the formating.

 

repair permissions and delete the caches

 

sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/

sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/

sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache

sudo reboot

 

If it doesn't work.

Try removing the leading 0 from manufacturer Id

Try the other atheros kext in plugins.

 

But make sure you put the other one back the way it was before.

Always repair permissions after edits, always delete kext caches before reboots.

since i cant boot into mac rite now becuz my laptop needs an external monitor ill do it tomm but leave solutions if u want or if u have a way for me to boot in like that paper clip method or something..idk

i downloaded that update and i used pacifist but i cant find the kext and idk how to edit the string..im not getting wat ur saying..

sorry i downloaded the wrong update i didnt download the combo and i also tryed wat diabolik said to do.. 4 his method and that didnt work cuz not only can i still cannot connect to the net those 2 messages dont come up

It didnt work man..i installed it and then put in the code and then i rebooted..nothing it still shows only 1 light blinking and the icon in the corner only says power off card with other options dulled

okay no installer this time:

 

This one uses 10.4.8 kexts:

IO80211Family.kext.zip

 

This next one uses 10.4.6 kexts:

IO80211Family.kext.zip

 

drag and drop the zipped file into:

 

your HD> System> Library> Extensions

 

now open terminal and enter this:

sudo -s (press enter)
  your password (press enter)
  sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/ (press enter)
  sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/ (press enter)
  diskutil repairPermissions / (press enter)
