ParkAvenger
Hello all! I've been looking over the OSx86 wiki for a while now and putting together tentative parts lists for cheap Micro ATX OSx86 systems, but first I'd like to make sure that my machine couldn't run it. I'd mostly be using it for GarageBand and other such sound things, possibly a bit of 3d modeling, etc. I know that my machine has all the power needed to handle it, my concern is in the rest of my hardware, especially the Gigabyte mobo. I've heard that OSx86 has problems with many Gigabyte models. So here goes: Gigabyte K8N Pro-SLI Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 2.4 gHz 3900+ Processor Gigabyte nVidia 6600GT Video Card 1GB Corsair RAM Lite-On DVD Burner - IDE Floppy Drive (Mitsumi I think) 160gb Western Digital HDD - SATA I'm aware that some of that info is probably not even relevant, but there it is. So, what's the verdict? Thanks, ParkAvenger Edited: bad word choice in initial thread name Edited January 12, 2007 by ParkAvenger
fireshark
Mac has not had floppy drives for a LONG while now. No support for it.
ParkAvenger
I'm aware of that. But that would certainly not prevent the system from being able to boot OSx86, unless I'm terribly mistaken? I'm not hell-bent on using a floppy drive all the time. ParkAvenger
So this is to say that yes, the components in my PC are not known to have had any trouble with OSx86 (esp. my mobo) and that it would likely work on that machine. Thanks for the help.

ParkAvenger
Hm, there's a similar board to mine listed as working; all signs point to yes on this one. We'll see, I'll let you know how it goes once I've got another hard drive in there and make my attempt. Thanks.
