Hey guys. I have the following system.
Dell Vostro 3550(HM-67)
intel i5-2450m
Intel hd 3000

4gb RAM
resolution 1366x768

I am in dire need of a hackintosh for XCode purposes. How do i get Yosemite working on my laptop. USB creation, kexts(FakeSMC) , and post installation.

Thank You

21posts and 5years on the forum with similar queries for 2 other laptops in recent months; I take it you're aware of the basics & the essentials and know how to create a USB installer by now...

Regarding this new Vostro 3550 of yours, it's going to be of similar specs as the McBookPro8,1. So that's what you need to target as SMBIOS profile. For HD3000, you'll be looking at injecting laptop SNB layout-id 0x00010000 either through DSDT patching of through Clover if graphics don't work OOB.

It's a SandyBridge platform so you'll need the AICPUPM patch to avoid CPUPM-related KP. You can either use a pre-patched kext (copies for Yosemite available here for instance) or use Clover's Asus AICPUPM option.

For the rest, well you'll have to identify the specs of your audio, LAN, wireless, SD card reader, touchpad, etc. You can refer to Dell's support web site and/or Windows Device Manager to that effect.

thank you so much for the info, but my previous 2 laptops were a breeze. i tried clover (legacy) to make usb installer, but in wain. need more info regarding that process

<p>I tried installing Yosemite using the below guide

<p>http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/280756-guide-the-all-in-one-guide-to-vanilla-os-x-including-chameleon-dsdt-for-beginners-updated-for-yosemite/

<p>but, I get an error saying, can't find S/L/Kernels/kernel.

<p><br>

<p>There is a file mach_kernel there. IS it the wrong file ? What do i do.

<p><br>

<p>I tried renaming the "mach_kernel" file to "kernel" , and "unable to find driver for this platform: \"<b>ACPI\". "

<p><b><br>

<p><strong>please help . Thank you

<p> Thank you for the reply, currently I am able to install Mountain Lion. I took care of the SMbios, I need more info regarding AICPUPM and Graphics, I used Graphics Enabler=Yes and the installer loaded in native resolution.

<p><em>Mavericks was the last OS X version to have the kernel file labelled as "mach_kernel" and located at the partition's root. Since Yosemite, all kernel files are called "kernel" and placed in /S/L/Kernels. Since you appear to make your USB installer manually, you'll need to create that folder (because it'll not exist by default) and copy the appropriate extracted kernel file to that folder.
