Hi there, I have an Elitebook 8540w running Snow Leopard. Now I'm trying to upgrade to Yosemite with the intention of finally going up to Capitan. I'm using a USB with chameleon 2456 (couldn't use a more recent version because it wouldn't install under Snow Leopard).
When I try to boot from usb - using boot flags -v -x kext-dev-mode=1 - the machine starts booting, reading files, displaying lots and lots of pages of messages until it suddenly restarts going back into bios.
When I boot without any flags I almost immediately get the yosemite apple logo before the machine restarts back into bios.
Any ideas what could be the problem or what to try next?

Here are some specs:
HP Elitebook 8540w
Bios: 68CVD Ver. F 50
Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Processor (6M Cache, 1.60 GHz)
12 GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia Quadro FX 1800M - 1600 x 900 (WSXGA)
Mobile Intel QM57 Express
WiFi Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300
SSD Samsung 850 Evo 250gb

If there is any other info needed I'd be glad to provide that. Thanks for any help, I've been wrestling with hackintoshing for weeks now :)
