theox
Hello All, I am having trouble installing El Capitan on my Dell OptiPlex 755 desktop (see my signature for specs). I have prepared Clover for El Capitan on a brand new 32gb Kingston usb 2.0 flash drive using Chris1111 exact instructions & the guide to install El Capitan on the dell 780, but each time I booted up Clover usb stick I always end up with this "unable to find driver for this platform: ACPI etc" issue for over a week now and have searched all over the forum and the www but could not find any answers. I tried many boot flags to see if I could get at least into the installer but ended up with the same kernel panic issue after the white Apple logo. I know a few people from the forum have installed El Capitan on their Dell 755 with no issues. However, I am running out of ideas on how to fix this. Could any expert please guide me in the right direction. Or maybe it's something I missed? Attached is the kernel panic. Thanks for taking the time read this and the support. theox
owbp
Let us try one more time! Use Chris1111's tool, instal Clover (3259 or higher) to your USB as per instructions from the guide and then - Copy this whole folder to EFI, replacing you existing Clover CLOVER.zip
theox
Ok I solve my issue but let me say something funny and I felt so embarrassed. Before using Chris1111's guide to create the Clover El Capitan installer on my new 32gb flash drive, I already have an 8gb El Capitan flash drive which I created from another guide and it didn't work. It was on the usb port at the back of my Dell PC and I forgot all about it. I realized this as I was installing a new Monitor. LOL. This is what causing the issue and the conflict in installing El Capitan. So I removed it and stick the 32gb one in and it just boot up with no effort. I'm sorry for the trouble and my apologies to @owbp who's been a great help and supportive. Thanks @owbp for your time I'll let you know the good news later after I fix my windows 10 cause I accidently format it. LOL. theox
owbp
It's not a prob at all... Two pages of PMs and me starting to doubt myself because of extra usb... Leave windows for now, you have few great guides here how to install win after OS X . Now boot into El Cap (booting from usb and choosing your HD) and then install Clover (again following guide) and the copy folder i attached to you EFI partition deleting Clover folder thats already there.
