Hello, i have an HP Probook 4340s, and i upgraded to El Capitan without any problems, everything works, all four USB ports are ok, for storage devices, etc.

However my usb adapter stopped worked...sometimes it seems to be enabled if i insert and remove the adapter several times, but it really does not do anything, however, in system report i can see the bt device enabled

Any solutions?

I too am finding the bluetooth dongle that worked in Yosemite no longer seems to work properly.

In my case my motherboard has onboard bluetooth too, which Mavericks/Yosemite didn't recognise at all, so suddenly when I plugged in a bluetooth one, there was *a* bluetooth adapter and it worked.

Now it looks like OSX is kinda recognising the onboard one:

Apple Bluetooth Software Version:    4.4.0f4 16320
  Hardware, Features, and Settings:
  Name:    spitfire
  Address:    24-0A-64-50-9A-40
  Bluetooth Low Energy Supported:    Yes
  Handoff Supported:    No
  Instant Hot Spot Supported:    No
  Manufacturer:    Qualcomm Atheros
  Transport:    USB
  Firmware Version:    7.4354 (6.1)
  Bluetooth Power:    On
  Discoverable:    On
  Connectable:    Yes
  Auto Seek Pointing:    On
  Remote wake:    On
  Vendor ID:    0x0B05
  Product ID:    0x17D0
  HCI Version:    0x7
  HCI Revision:    0x1102
  LMP Version:    0x6
  LMP Subversion:    0x01
  Device Type (Major):    Computer
  Device Type (Complete):    Mac Desktop
  Composite Class Of Device:    0x380104
  Device Class (Major):    0x01
  Device Class (Minor):    0x01
  Service Class:    0x1C0
  Auto Seek Keyboard:    On

... except for it not actually, you know, working. So I suspect this may be the problem...

edit 17 Oct: I just needed to disable the onboard one in uefi bios setup, then my iogear USB dongle worked as before. (no handoff but don't think I ever did have that; don't know if that's possible with more effort than I care to put in as don't really need/miss it.)

  • 3 weeks later...

You can edit the Broadcom info.plist plugin (can't remember the exact name inside IOBluetoothFamily.kext and insert the vendor and device id of your dongle. I'm away from the computer until tomorrow, but I can show you how if you need help.

Please mate that would be fantastic I am after this info also...
