Note sure what I have done wrong.  Maybe there is some other problem causing this.

Clover is on a USB stick.

With the USB stick "in" I can boot into my 500gb yosemite drive.

With the USB stick "out" I can boot into windows 7 pro x64  which is on 500gb partition of a 1tb drive with the other 500gb split into two fat32 partitions.  One I named "data", the other I named "TimeMachine".  So far so good.

OK, I then booted yosemite and it saw the "data" and the "TimeMachine" and I allowed yosemite to use that "TimeMachine" partition as a time machine and I ran yosemite for several days and it seemed to be working just fine.  It did reformat that fat32 "TimeMachine" to its liking of course.

I then pulled out the clover boot usb stick, rebooted, and the system could not find an operating system.  The system repair could not find one either and the automatic win7 repair gave up and asked if I wanted to let microsoft know of the problem. BTW, I disconnected the mac drive before messing with this repair.

I then booted acronis up and rewrote track 0 and the mbr from the acronis true image backup from whence my original win7x64 system came from.  That didnt work either.  Reboot could not find an operating system even though the repair "command prompt" seemingly showed that all the windows files were still on the C drive.

so I am now re-installing win7pro from my acronis true image backup into the windows partition. Maybe it will work, maybe not.

Is there anything wrong with having yosemite keeps its time machine on the "windows drive" on its EFI partition?

I was never successful in getting clover to boot the windows drive.  That is another problem I will look at eventually.  Right now it was easier to pull the clover boot usb flash stick out to boot into windows and that was working fine until I reformatted the time machine partition for yosemite to use.

TIA.

[EDIT] I re-installed the windows partition using acronis and it seems to be working.  I have been able to switch back and forth and have not lost the ability to boot windows.  I have no idea what went wrong originally, maybe the order in which I installed the two OSs made a difference.
