I am using Clover with success. As I was naive, new to Hackintosh and I was easily tricked to believe that Gigabyte is the best motherboard.

There are several problems with my build:

1. Sleep/wake doesn't work correctly. If it went into sleep, then it will reboot.
2. Monitor won't be able to detect the signal on login screen. I have to turn off then turn on the monitor. But without Nvidia web driver it won't have such problem.
3. 4K only runs at 30Hz.

The first one I've read other threads from different forums, it seems this is motherboard related.

The second one I have no clue, it's probably driver related.

The last one I have read several threads. I hope it would be resolved in 10.10.3.

My questions are:

1. Should I go for a different motherboard as I can still get a replacement for free? And which one has the least problems?
2. The second problem bugs me the most. Is there any solution?

---- update 2015-03-31 ----

1. For the motherboard, I just changed it to Asus Z97I-PLUS.

2. For the graphics related problems, they all have to do with DisplayPort 1.2 and MST stuff.

I've read others complaining OS X 10.10.2 or Nvidia's web driver disabled 4K@60Hz. It probably because of the MST. Switching from DP 1.1 to DP 1.2 causes black screen and it requires power cycle to get normal. I'm also experiencing MST problems in Windows, like repeated desktop.

All these suggest that 4K is just not ready yet, at least with my monitor.

---- update 2015-04-09 ----

1. Sleep/wake problem was caused by the USB HUB on the monitor.

2. The rest graphics problems are all related to DP 1.2 MST, using DP 1.1a solved this.

the mobo is good, imo.

Thank you for the reply.

I've check the config.plist. This was already done and the problem remains.

The sleep/wake issue actually has two parts:

  1. Choose sleep, then it goes to sleep and I can hear the fans and hard drive stop, but it quickly resumes from sleep, just the screen is still black.
  2. If I wait for some time, then it will reboot.

Also thank you for the link, it looks very useful. I also noticed that "Mostly Gigabyte motherboards are affected". Maybe I should go for a different motherboard, as I am not a fan of Gigabyte.

I've ordered an Asus Z97I-PLUS anyway. It's a little more expensive than Gigabyte, but hopefully I can get sleep/wake work plus it will have a working WIFI.

For the 4K@30Hz problem, it seems this is a combination of the Nvidia driver and OS X. I found some useful discussions here: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1760435

The black screen with UP2414Q can be found here: http://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/2k1r2q/yosemite_gtx_760_up2414q_60hz_at_4k/

In all, the only thing that could be solved at the moment is sleep/wake.
