Nick2014
(Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I saw this section to be the best fit) Hey all, I have had an issue with my PSU. My Dad and I were stumped as to why my PC was on, so he decided that he would turn my AMD rig off by YANKING the power cord from the PSU. I was worried that he broke something, or my HDD r/w pole crashed into the plate, so I went to plug the PC back in, only to recieve an angry *POP*. The PC has done something like this when the power went out, and I got it to work again. I am at school ATM, and am not able to check standoffs (which I know are on right) and shorted connections (none AFAIK), but I DO know that this time, it didn't restart after the spark. Any advice? Letter I emailed to LEPA: Hello, I have recently bought a power supply from you, and It looks and has worked great. I have encountered an issue, when my Dad accidentally pulled the cord from the PSU when the PC was running. I quickly plugged it back in to make sure he didn't fry anything HDD wise, and when I plugged the cord back into the PSU, It emitted a loud POP and a white-blue spark jumped from it (the inside of the PSU, by the I/O switch). It has had this issue before, and after some poping I got it to boot and it has had no issues until now. But now since this is a recurring issue, I am admittedly afraid to try and plug it back in and fiddle with it. I was wondering If I should return this power supply to Frys, where I bought the device, or to you. I may not be able to return it in the box as my housemaid threw it away (or I think she did), but I can provide the receipt from Frys (I can see If I can get my Dad to pull his Credit-Card statement If needed). The power supply is the LEPA N Series N500-SA 500W PSU. I did buy this supply on the 15th of last March, so I don't know if it is still under return policy or warranty. Some additional info, when I tried to turn it on using the power switch, it made another spark, the case fans turned on and lighted up, then died. I am at school currently and cannot reply immediately, I will whenever I can dig up my old Dell laptop Thanks in advance! ~Nick I also bought this from Fry's about 2 weeks ago, so I can return it there. What do you think? Should I bring it back to life? Or return it and pay shipping and {censored}? Thanks a lot if you can help! Nick
Nick2014
Bump: Guys I really need an answer by Saturday, I am faced with returning it or finding a way to fix it
dcai777
If it sparks, return it before it catches on fire. That is definitely not regular for a power supply.
Nick2014
Agreed, i'm returning it to Fry's today. If when I get home tomorrow the PC is fried, shall I get mad at Fry's? Or LEPA?
