rmk2009 Posted July 3, 2013 Share Posted July 3, 2013 Hi Guys, I'm now in the market for a new PC that i want to run both OSX and Windows 7. i have been running osx on my build for a slight while later removed due to stability issues. Current Rig. CPU: i7-920 D0 MOBO: Asus P6T SERAM: 6GB Patriot Viper X 1600Mhz DDR3 GFX: EVGA GTX 560 TI SC 1024MB I dont know whether to wait for Haswell to become compatible or just go ivy bridge now that i have the money. New rig thoughts: CPU: i7-3770K MOBO: GA-Z77MX-D3HRAM: 16GB Patriot Black Mamba 1600MHz CL9 HDD1: Samsung 256GB 840 PRO (OSX)HDD2: Western Digital 2TB Caviar Black (OSX Storage)HDD3: Samsung 256GB 840 PRO (Win7)HDD4: Western Digital 2TB Caviar Black (Win7 Storage) GFX: EVGA GTX 660 TI SC 2048MB Any help would be appreciated Cheers Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
UrbanBard Posted August 4, 2013 Share Posted August 4, 2013 It looks like a good new rig. But, I have a few thoughts: The processor seems way beyond the Mobo. An i5-3570K would be a cheaper fit. Or upgrade the Mobo to Ga-Z77X-UD5H. Personally, I'd upgrade the mother board, because that is common build. So, there is lots of help. Save the difference with 120Gb SSD's. Most of your files should be off loaded on storage; leaving your boot drives lean and mean. The WD 2Tb HDD's should be partitioned into normal storage and time machine (or backups for windows.) This computer should last two to three years until Haswell chips are everywhere. But, then again, if you will wait six months, there will be plenty of Haswell examples to follow in Mavericks.
