Deadlemming2god
I have been wrestling around with getting my machine to dual boot windows XP and OSx86. Here's what I've attempted. 1. I have a working tigerx86 vmware image 2. I have a gentoo liveCD 3. I have a 60 GB hard drive on a dell 9300 laptop. Steps I've taken- 1. I boot up a vmware virtual machine with connections to the tigerx86 image and my entire 60 GB hard drive. I have it set to boot from the gentoo liveCD 2. my 60GB HD has two existing partions: a stupid dell one dell one I could get ride of and a 50 GB partion I have Windows XP installed on. I create a new apple style partion with the remaining 10GB of space and restart the entire machine. 3. I boot up a vmware virtual machine again and dd the tigerx86 virtual drive into the 10GB apple style partion I created. 4. I use partion magic to set the 10 GB OSX86 partion active and reboot. 5. I get "Unable to load OS"..... 6. I boot up with partion magic and set my windows partion active, it boots up fine. 7. I try to boot the 10 GB OSX86 partition with a vmware machine and still get "unable to load OS".. What did I do wrong ? Please help, I've tried this a couple times... I previously had linux installed here and it worked fine.. Thanks for any help
