The problem of memory management in OSX has critically arose since Lion. I'm not saying the same problems were not already present in previous releases, but I started noticing the problem with 10.7.
I don't understand how people can still get their work done on macintosh/hackintosh with 4GB (or less) of RAM without starting hating Apple. Sometimes I'm forced to execute the command 'purge' just to free > 1.5GB of unused memory.
I hope they will face and solve this problem in 10.8.
