I gave up trying to get my Creative Labs Fatal1ty Pro working on my Hackintosh so I've decided to just use the audio on the motherboard, a Gigabyte EX58-UD4P. This has the Realtek ALC889A for audio. I'm getting audio no problem, but its very soft at max volume. I've tried the kext provided in ###### (for Lion), as well as the Optimized ALC885/889A kext.

Under System Prefs/Sound I do see that the Output choice is set to Built-in. When I try changing it to one of the Audio line-out port options (I have two) I get no audio at all. I think this may be the problem, but can't figure out how to resolve it.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm running Lion 10.7.3.

Hm...VoodooHDA?

You can enable the half-volume fix in the plist...see the thread VoodoHDA - common problems stickied in the top of the Sound forum.
