Wahoooooo! My HackBook Pro works a charm now, after some tweaking and other stuff. It's just awesome!

Here's the full details.

My system is a Samsung RF411 with:

Intel Core i7-2630QM

Intel HD 3000 & Nvidia GT525M with Optimus

8GB 1333MHz RAM

500 GB Samsung S2 Portable External USB Hard Drive

ASUS USB-N10 (WiFi Adapter)

These are my hardware specs. Now for how I got about to installing OS X Lion. I obviously used tonymac's ##### method to do the install. My external hard drive, my drive for OS X, has 3 partitions: 1 for Mac OS X, 1 for backing up and the final one, a 8 GB partition for #####. This is a very handy way to install Lion as it acts as a quick repair disk, as I just have to reboot and select the Lion installer partition to repair my OS X disk in case something goes pear-shaped. Secondly, it renders installing the Chameleon (or is it Chimera??? I'm not so sure...) bootloader in the main disk redundant, as the ##### disk already has a working bootloader.

Well, after installing Lion, i booted into the partition and set Lion up. I found that i didn't need any kexts for graphics: the Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics worked perfectly, with full QE/CI and acceleration. But, the discrete Nvidia graphics didn't work, but that's not of too much concern to me. I just had to change my display profile in System Prefs, as the menu colours were a bit off.

Then, I found that the buit-in wifi card didn't work, and got myself an ASUS USB-N10 wifi adapter. It's so tiny, it's shorter than the length of an iPod nano (the square one with a multi-touch screen). But it's extremely fast. The kexts for it, i got from this thread:

www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=18705

That's wireless networking solved. Now, about my audio and USB 3.0. I have Intel HDA audio, so i used VoodooHDA. Installing it from ##### 4.1 caused it to kernel panic, so I used the official installer from the google page. Then, I took the kext from S/L/E and copied it to my desktop for some minor editing. Following that, I installed this awesome app called VoodooLauncher found here:

http://code.google.com/p/voodoo-launcher/

This great app loads VoodooHDA AFTER OS X has booted, preventing any potential kernel panics. Furthermore, VoodooHDA.kext isn't installed in S/L/E with this app-it's part of the app package. This prevents any kp's at all.

So what about the VoodooHDA.kext in my desktop? It seems that the kext supplied with the app doesn't work with my laptop. So I replaced the default kext with my edited kext. And I deleted VoodooHDA.kext from S/L/E. To access the kext in the app, you have to "Show Package Contents" and navigate to Contents/Resources/VoodooHDA.kext. That is where the kext is loaded from.

Finally, the simplest, to solve USB 3 SuperSpeed: I simply installed the NEC/Renesas kext in ##### 4.1. That's all!

And that's it folks, my HackBook is working fine and dandy thanks to a lot of ppl, specifically those who made guides for editing kexts and the person who made VoodooLauncher. And last but the most important, tonymac, without whom a dream would have stayed a dream. (I'm getting too philosophical, right?)

This is my HackBook's GeekBench scores, checked with the 32-bit version:

No, unfortunately not. Not yet, anyway. I've heard ppl saying that next year's MacBook Pros are going to use Nvidia Optimus, so most likely software updates by Apple will solve the Optimus problem. Next year.
