ocZZZ
I just installed Lion and would like to make sure my overclock is taking effect correctly. I'm running a 2500k @ 4.8ghz on a Asus P6P67 Motherboard. About this mac is reporting 3.3ghz (stock speed) as are other applications within Lion. Speedstep is disabled in bios. This is different from what I've seen in previous OSX releases. Also, the results of sysctl -a are .busfrequency: 400000000 hw.busfrequency_min: 400000000 hw.busfrequency_max: 400000000 hw.cpufrequency: 3300000000 hw.cpufrequency_min: 3300000000 hw.cpufrequency_max: 3300000000 However, I appear to be scoring the correct scores in geekbench for this CPU so I'm thinking it is indeed setup correclty? Anyone else seeing this? Geekbench report 32bit: http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/439619
L33tdawg
I have the exact same issue - i7 2600k overclocked to 4.4GHz but still showing as 3.4GHz everywhere though Geekbench score went up by 2500+ (11k+ -> 14k+)
3.14r2
CPU speed display (in System Profiler at least) is purely cosmetic issue. It is either how Chameleon detects (how detection algo is working) it or how it is set in SMBIOS.plist.
