Stuck at "efi runtime returned 0" after 10.6.7 update on i7

I've been working on this since Friday...I had 10.6 working perfect but once I upgraded to 10.6.7 via software update, I am stuck at the grey screen with just the apple logo, no loading spinner.

 

I have vmware workstation 7 on windows 7 64bit using darwin_snow.iso on an i7 2600k. I installed via the retail disc I used on my mbp (10.6).

 

-v says:

 

EFI runtime returned 0

Starting Darwin/x86

 

I have tried smc.present="FALSE" and monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware" monitor.virtual_mmu = "software" and changing up guestos, all with no effect to the graphical boot or -v :censored2:

 

Any ideas?
