Single drive dual boot in five easy steps.

Hello all,

Here is the method I used to set up my Acer Aspire 5742-6638 laptop as a single drive dual boot system.

This is what works for me, at this time. I have no post install tips for my laptop. I am still struggling with that part, especially the networking. :-(

OSs are the existing Win7 factory installation (heavily modified) and Snow Kitty 10.6 (retail).

Hardware I used; Laptop, 8gig flash drive (Snow kitty and ModUSB), a 16 gig flash drive (Katana found here), and a 320 gig USB drive (for back ups).

First: Boot Katana, go to Clonezilla and back it up.

Second: Again Katana. Boot into Puppy Linux and use GParted to make a Fat32 partition at the END of the drive.

Third: Enter an OS X environment to restore Snow Kitty to an 8gig flash drive, and run Nawcom's ModUSB.

Forth: Boot into the Nawcom ModUSB to install Snow Kitty. Using Disk Utility, "Erase" the newly created partition as MacOS Journaled. Name it OSX or whatever.

Warrning! Do Not change any other settings in Disk Utility!

Fifth: After Install reboot with Katana. Run Clonezilla again and Back It Up!

Reboot ...

As soon as you see Chameleon, press the space bar. You will see three or more drives. One should be named "SYSTEM RESERVED" This is the partition that when selected will boot Win7.

There you go! I hope this helps.
