Hey guys!

I'm excited I finally got OS X installed on my PC, but with a couple or important things to work on.

Firstly, I'll start of with my existing problems.

1. I can't get my laptop keyboard and touchpad working. I clearly remember checking the "Laptop Support" box at the install screen, that included PS/2 fixes, though it still doesn't work. I have read about the P2/S fixes on the forums here. I am keen to try those kexts.

2. Resolution. My native resolution on my laptop is 1280x800. I have a feeling it is my ATi graphic chip, so I'm still working on finding a fix for that.

My current laptop setup is:

Manufacturer: Acer

Model: Extensa 5620G

CPU: Intel Core2Duo 2.1Ghz

RAM: 4GB DDR2 RAM

HDD: 250GB SATA HDD (Currently, 110GB Windows 7 Partition, 92GB NFTS HDD for storage, 20GB Mac OS X Partition)

GPU: ATi Mobility Radeon HD 2400XT 256mb

My bootloader is Chameleon RC4.

If you guys have any suggestions to fix my two issues, that would be hugely appreciated!

If requested, I'll post my steps to make the installation work.

Thanks guys!

The graphics card is not supported in Snow Leopard (no QE/CI).

Then would it be supported in Leopard 10.5 or not at all?

Secondly, is there a way to manually change the resolution?

Also, do you know of a fix for the laptop keyboard/touchpad?

Thanks.

1) No

2) I don't know how.

3) Try voodoops2.kext (delete the other ps2 kexts except ACPIPS2Nub.kext). Install it with kexthelper and then repair permissions with kext utility.

  • 1 year later...

can you tell what you selcted on install im getting a panic for just about everything :/ one problem goes another appears!

ive got a way to fix the grapics, i have this working on 10.5.8 apparently it works on 10.6.x (this is not my work)

1. startup with -x

2. open finder go to system/library/extentions

3. search 'ATI' select search: "extentions" on the bar just below the search box

4. select all the files and move them to the trash.

5. install the kext ive attached and reboot, enjoy 1280x800 but no QE/CI ( i haven't found any problems without QE/CI)

P.S im not sure if it's compulsary but i have natit.kext installed - so ive attached it anyway. install it with RadeonHD.kext before reboot.

RadeonHD.kext.zip

Natit.kext.zip
