Espionage724 Posted March 15, 2010 Share Posted March 15, 2010 Hardware Acer TravelMate 2480 - Intel Celeron M 420 @ 1.6Ghz - 2GB of RAM (stock is 512MB) - Marvell Ethernet 88E8038 and Broadcom BCM4309 (4318) - Texas Instruments PCMCIA and Card Reader - GMA950 - PS/2 Dirtek Keyboard and Synaptics Touchpad What Works Acer TravelMate 2480 - Graphics (standard 10.6.2 kexts) - Internet (Wireless comes out-of-the-box, Ethernet comes with a PCMCIA kext from Eureka) - Keyboard and Mouse (after VoodooPS2) - Audio (will work on it later) - PCMCIA (card reader although hasn't worked for me on ANY OS so maybe its fake >.>) Guide how to install Snow Leopard (Method A) Requirements: - Acer TravelMate 2480 (or similar computer with similar hardware above) - Copy of Leopard Installed (grab a distribution like iDeneb even) - 1 flash drive 8GB or more - Copy of Snow Leopard image - Chameleon RC4 - USB keyboard and Mouse (100% needed unless you know a way to make PS/2 work on boot) Getting Snow Leopard Onto Your Acer TravelMate 2480 1. Install Leopard (whole drive = 1 partition in GUID or GPT whatever it is that isnt MBR or Apple MBR) 2. Obtain Snow Leopard Image (download it or rip it from a retail disc) 3. Format flash drive (2 partitons, 1 = 50MB, 2 = whatever is left (at least 6-7GB) 4. Rip Snow Leopard Image to 2nd Partition on flash drive 5. Install Chameleon RC4 to 1st flash drive partiton (theres an USB install guide somewhere) 6. Copy my customized com.apple.boot.plist to /Extra (if it isn't here now, i'll list it later) 7. Copy fakesmc.kext to /Extra/Extensions 8. Get a customized DSDT to fix BIOS clearing (guide out there for that too somewhere) 9. Copy that DSDT to /Extra 10. Backup everything you want somewhere 11. Shut down, boot from flash drive, choose Install partition 12. Go into Disk Utility and clear out the main HDD 13. Install OS X with whatever you want 14. Installer should fail at end (bootloader maybe?) don't panic 15. Restart (have to hold button) and boot from flash drive and then boot your new SL partition 16. Enjoy video, and set up Mac to your liking 17. Use Software Update and grab all updates Now for the hardware 1. Download my kext pack (will add later) 2. Install with...
