Successfully installed Retail SL on my M17x. Everything is working great but my sound i had in 10.5.8 Leo is gone.

I tried patching my AppleHDA i was using in Leopard but no Luck.

I use HDAEnabler + AppleHDA in Leopard so downloaded a HDAEnabler which will work on Snow Leopard.

Then i patched my working Leopard AppleHDA following the instructions on this site.

But it doesn't work.

---I had fully working Sound on Leopard 10.5.8 on my Machine.---

Here is the AppleHDA + HDAEnabler + LegacyHDA for fully working Sound on a Alienware M17x with IDT High Definition Audio 92HD73C1X5 (Codec ID 287143541) in Leopard 10.5.8!!!!!!

But in Snow Leopard i doesn't have any Sound.

Maybe someone of you has more luck than i.

Yeah.

On Leo My Machine runs like a Charm.

Did you get Bluetooth working? I found nothing in your tutorial about that.

My Bluetooth is working fine - Leopard and Snow Leopard.

If you want i can upload my files and describe what to do.

I hope there will be any Solution for Sound on Snow Leopard. (!!!)

I honestly forgot about bluetooth since I hardly use it. But if there's anything you can add please go ahead.

So guys ---and especially Hangampalli--- =)

Here is Sound for Alienware M17x with IDT High Definition Audio 92HD73C1X5 (Codec ID 287143541) in SNOW LEOPARD.

IDTAudio_Snow_Leopard.zip

Guide:

You must have Chameleon RC3 installed (In my Case it is RC3, haven't test it on other Releases)

And you must use the ORIGINAL AppleHDA.kext for SL in S/L/E

Copy the DSDT.aml into /Extra Folder

Copy the IDTAudio.kext into /Extra/Extensions Folder

Reboot

Internal Mic is working (with no Volume Control) and you have Audio Output only on the green Line Out Jack.

I didn't found a Solution for Multichannel Output and for the Internal Speakers now.

Thanks for this guide!! Just an fyi, upgrading to 10.6.3 will break this IDT audio fix. To fix it, you have to replace the stock AppleHDA kext in 10.6.3 with the stock kext from 10.6.2... so be sure to back this up before upgrading to 10.6.3.

I'm running 10.6.3 here with pretty good results, though I still can't get battery, sleep, and external display working.

m17x

Q9000

4gb 1333mhz ram

2x320gb drives non-raid

260m

BluRay Drive

bios a03

Chameleon RC3

10.6.3 in 32bit

I haven't tested external Display.

The only thing that seems not to work for me...

I'm dual-booting with Windows 7.

And I can't get both of the clocks to be correct.

It's either one or the other. I correct one clock, then go to the other partition, and it's five hours ahead or behind.

I do it on the other partition, same thing. :[

Not a huge deal, just mildly annoying when I look at the clock displaying 3 AM and I thought I've been up for three hours too long. :c Haha.

Thanks once again man. :)

I edited the tutorial to include this. By the way, you can also use the Black Audio Jack to get audio.

Hi, thanks for your guide, it helps me a lot, and I'm actually writng from MAC 10,5,7 updated to 10,5,8 by Apple Updater Software :D

I just wanna know if the Command Center runs on it ?

Good to see you got it working man. But what's command center? If you mean the Alienware software, that's only going to run on Windows.
