HD passed all tests - still slow

I have a wd 5000aaja sata drive that I bought from a friend.

It's the 5th drive in the system.

It has passed all disk warrior and tech tool pro tests (inc surface scan).

It is writting at 2mb/sec

 

I have tried:

1. different sata ports

2. different power cables

3. different partition schemes

 

I am running ideneb 10.5.8

mobo: ep45-ud3p

750 watt psu

I have other wd hd's and they work fine.

 

is this a controller issue?
