It came to my attention that the Airport worked from time to time (I used Broadcom drivers I found at install time in iDeneb 1.4, now I boot with -f). It maybe that the card is detected as Airport only in particular system configurations, i.e. if something changes (e.g. you disconnect a USB pen drive or similar) the Airport may be not detected.
